The vegetation subcommittee’s goal is to address the significant loss of tree cover and pollinator support in Sangamon County through tree and pollinator planting projects, education and advocacy.  Projects involve purchasing trees, pollinator plants and edible perennials and then planting them where green infrastructure had been cleared away or paved over.  These projects are to be used as demonstrations to inspire a dedication to zero tree loss and pollinator support. By restoring the neglected areas we can utilize these projects to educate the city on the fundamental role trees and plants play in supporting our climate.
