(SSI) is an environmental grass roots organization that promotes responsible planning efforts by our local governments and encourages the Springfield area citizen and business community to live and operate more sustainably. We are an information sharing network and closely ally our organization with other environmental groups in Springfield to promote their activities as well as our own.

Sister Sharan Zayac, O.P. is a nun of the Dominican Order and founder of Jubilee Farm outside of Springfield Illinois (http://jubileefarm.info/). Her presention of some of the highlights of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudito Si’ – On Care for Our Common Home helps to illuminate many of the important points of the encyclical. Sister Sharon was a board member of Sustainable Springfield for six years and is one of Springfield’s most knowledgeable presenters on environmental topics. Her talk was sponsored by Springfield Dominicans, Hospital Sisters of St. Francis, Pax Christi Springfield, Office for the Missions and Office for Pro-Life Activities & Special Ministries – Diocese of Springfield in Illinois.
